Jesus Christ
A Sinless Man

Throughout the whole of history there has only been one person who lived a perfect life and never sinned: Jesus Christ. This is a remarkable achievement because the Bible makes it clear that Jesus was tempted in exactly the same way that we are tempted to sin. The fact that Jesus was a man is very important. It means he knows about us, is able to sympathise with us and can act as a mediator who can represent us before God. The Bible makes it very clear that Jesus was a man who committed no sin:
"Since then we have a great high priest who has passed through the heavens, Jesus, the Son of God, let us hold fast our confession. For we do not have a high priest who is unable to sympathise with our weaknesses, but one who in every respect has been tempted as we are, yet without sin." Heb 4:14-15 (ESV)
"For to this you have been called, because Christ also suffered for you, leaving you an example, so that you might follow in his steps. He committed no sin, neither was deceit found in his mouth." 1 Peter 2:21-22 (ESV)
"For there is one God, and there is one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus, who gave himself as a ransom for all, which is the testimony given at the proper time." 1 Tim 2:5-6 (ESV)
The Son of God

Jesus was no ordinary man, he was the Son of God. This gave him the authority to teach the people about the Kingdom of God. Furthermore, God gave Jesus the power to work miracles which allowed him to heal the sick and feed the hungry as well as many other wonderful things. But more importantly it gives him the authority to be King over the whole Earth. And yet despite this power and authority, Jesus was a very humble man who taught humility and patience. Here are some Bible passages that confirm that Jesus was the Son of God:
"And the angel answered her [Mary], 'The Holy Spirit will come upon you, and the power of the Most High will overshadow you; therefore the child to be born will be called holy—the Son of God.'" Luke 1:35 (ESV)
"But when the fullness of time had come, God sent forth his Son, born of woman, born under the law..." Gal 4:4 (ESV)
"For we did not follow cleverly devised myths when we made known to you the power and coming of our Lord Jesus Christ, but we were eyewitnesses of his majesty. For...he received honor and glory from God the Father, and the voice was borne to him by the Majestic Glory, 'This is my beloved Son, with whom I am well pleased'..." 2 Peter 1:16-17 (ESV)
Death and Resurrection

God sent Jesus into the world to help us understand true goodness, and to redeem men and women. Jesus voluntarily laid down his life for all of us so that we might have a hope of life and reconciliation with God. He was put to death by crucifixion under the Roman authorities of the time at the demand of the local religious leaders. This sacrifice of himself has meaning because Jesus lived a sinless life: he did not deserve to die. As a result of his faithfulness, God raised him from the dead to eternal life and we can have hope that we can also have eternal life through our faith in the Lord Jesus Christ.
"...God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Spirit and with power. He went about doing good and healing all who were oppressed by the devil, for God was with him. And we are witnesses of all that he did both in the country of the Jews and in Jerusalem. They put him to death by hanging him on a tree, but God raised him on the third day..." Acts 10:38-40 (ESV)
"For Christ also suffered once for sins, the righteous for the unrighteous, that he might bring us to God, being put to death in the flesh but made alive in the spirit..." 1 Peter 3:18 (ESV)
"This man [Jesus] was handed over to you by God's deliberate plan and foreknowledge; and you, with the help of wicked men, put him to death by nailing him to the cross. But God raised him from the dead, freeing him from the agony of death, because it was impossible for death to keep its hold on him." Acts 2:23-24 (NIV)
